About Sarah

Life is a series of developmental stages...in body, mind and spirit......

I was born in Boston in 1954 between two hurricanes. With a typically turbulent family, the forest and shore became my sanctuaries, nature was my teacher.  I sailed across the Atlantic at age 17, then took to the mountains as an Instructor with Outward Bound and NOLS. Little did I know I was experiencing and teaching transformation.

Deepening into the experience of being a whole-hearted human I went on to nursing school, marriage, three children and a career as an R.N. in rural Colorado. I ran a ski area medical clinic, was a homebirth midwife, ER and critical care nurse.

But I was drinking too much wine and running too many miles and ended up burned out on all of it, and landed in yoga, which naturally lead me to Ayurveda.

Yoga and Ayurveda brought an inner and outer resilience inviting me to heal the parts of me that had been left behind as I created a life influenced by culture, and my own shadows. I wove yoga and ayurveda into my knowledge of western medicine, practicing and teaching with a deep sense of purpose and intriguing  results.

My new capacities lead me to deeper inner work ~ ancestral healing and the journey of shadow work. I shed skins I didn’t even know I had, and emerged, prepared to teach and share with those who are ready for a more vibrant, grounded and authentic life as we face aging, grief, planetary stress and the instability, fear and chaos that invite personal and collective evolution.

Fun Facts About Me...

My favorite drink is chai ~ preferably with lots of ginger.

I have two nicknames: My older brother couldn’t say my name when I was born ~ Rah was the best he could do.  Later in life, a dear friend began calling me The Big Nurse (from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest) and that stuck.

I’m a cat person….and yes, I have more than one!

My three grandchildren, a tiny band of superheroes, have similar names: Ada, Otto and Milo (guess which two are sibs?).

My Enneatype is 8;  my Human Design is a Classic Builder.
